What led you to a career in mental health and wellbeing?

My passion to help and be of service to others. I'm a Human Potential and Success Coach. I have extensive experience working with young people as I was a High School Health & Physical Education and Student Success teacher for 15 years. I have also been certified to teach workshops on social-emotional learning as a Mindfulness Ambassador with Mindfulness With Borders. I am currently a certified consultant with the Proctor Gallagher Institute.

For anyone who isn't familiar, can you explain the kind of work that you do with patients/clients? Do you have a specialized area you focus on?

I help people create the life they want and to fulfill their dreams. I'm intensely growth and goal-oriented, helps individuals, groups and companies discover their deepest desires, reach their potential and achieve their personal and professional goals. I help people remove the barriers that are making them feel stuck.

If you could only give one piece of advice to someone struggling with their mental health and wellbeing, what would it be?

Your past is no indication of what's possible for YOU! It is important to create an opportunity to change your outlook - get outside and move your body. To shift your outlook start telling yourself all the things you have to be grateful for at the present moment (e.g. the ability to physically move, the blue skies, the fresh air, the ability to see, etc.). Your thoughts are like cars on a train - one positive thought will turn into two, and so-on.

What's the most important change you'd like to see in men's mental health? Or something you've already seen change?

I want to see a shift happen from awareness of men's mental health being an issue to one where we teach and empower all men how to thrive in all areas of their lives.

What do you value most about peer support in a person's mental health and wellbeing journey? What does peer support look like to you?

Peer support means surrounding yourself with a positive, uplifting and empowering environment. It's about surrounding yourself with people that are your biggest fans - they are the first to celebrate your wins and pick you up when you fall.

How do you explain the difference between thoughts and feelings and the relationship between the two?

Everything starts with a great thought.

A great thought will always lead to you to feel great.

When you feel great you will take great action.

A great action will lead to a great result.

What is the most inspiring part of your work, the thing that keeps you going? What is one thing you have learned that you want to share with everyone reading?

Seeing and hearing the changes that takes place in the lives of the people I work with.

Always remember this one fundamental truth - YOU ARE GREATNESS!
